Procurement
Cotton linter as the raw material of Bemberg™ is currently procured from partner oil mills* located in four countries: India, Brazil, USA, and Japan. We regularly visit each oil mill to strictly check the production processes and quality of raw materials and keep the quality of the raw material consistent.

Biodegradable and compostable
Since cotton linter, which is the raw material of Bemberg™, is naturally derived,
Bemberg™ is biodegradable and
compostable if buried in soil.

ISO 14001 acquired
Asahi Kasei obtained ISO14001, the international standard for environment management systems, in recognition of the establishment of systems to continuously reduce and prevent the environmental impacts of its corporate activities, products and services.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100
The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is a worldwide consistent, independent testing and certification system for raw, semi-finished, and finished textile products at all processing levels. Its aims is to level out global differences regarding the assessment of possible harmful substances in textiles.

RCS 100
We are certified to the Recycled Claim Standard 100/RCS 100, which verifies recycled material and tracks it from the source to the final product.
- In 2016, we implemented a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for Bemberg™ through the third-party organization ICEA. Based on this assessment, we are working to further reduce the environmental Impact.
- Bemberg™ filament (bright yarn) has been verified to be compostable by INNOVHUB-SSI examinations.
- From 8th of January, 2022, we have switched from GRS certification to RCS 100 certification.
