REPORT of Participation of FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week

We had a fashion show on Sustainable Fashion Day at Lakmé fashion week 2022 (23rd -27th March) collaborating with one of the most stunning apparel brand in India, Payal Pratap. The last time, the first participation for Bemberg, was broadcasted only online as the counter measure against the corona virus, on the other hand, this time it could be held on a venue, National Stadium in Delhi. So we could show directly Bemberg's universe and have fruitful encounters especially with new apparel brands and customers.
The garments of the collection was realized thanks to Payal Pratap's beautiful creation which shows the features of fabrics made with Bemberg such as its unique luster and color depth. This collection named "JAVA" was inspired by the designer's early formative years in Indonesia, so she takes a nostalgic journey with this collection while transforming the age-old unique craft of Batik of hand painted artworks to the contmporary digital print. We could enjoy the prints encompass flora and fauna, bringing nature from the outside to the inside through the use of extensiv flower, leaf, tree, vines and bird motives, as an ode to sustainability. The items on the show weren't Saris and Krutis which are basically regarded as Indian traditional wear, but there were some looks of western styled tailored jackets cordinated with lungi skirts, one of the Indian ethnic wear, and then jackets and dresses with appliques which reminiscent of tropical flowers. The collection was elegant fusion of western and Asian ethnicity with Payal Pratap's multinational spirits.
