Business Call to Action (BCtA)
For the sustainable development of the Indian
textile industry

Bemberg™ has been popular in India for over 40 years as a fiber for
traditional costumes such as sarees and dupatta, and we continue
developing new technologies and proposing new fabrics so that people
can wear dresses that are more comfortable and beautiful. Through
technical support and industry-academia for stakeholders in the supply
chain, from the raw materials to final products, we are also working
toward goals such as raising the income of workers and helping women
have greater opportunities for advancement in society. These activities
have gained recognition, and we have been participating in Business
Call to Action (BCtA) led by the United Nations Development Program
(UNDP) since 2016. We started the second term in 2021 and are also
putting effort into environmental conservation.

What is Business Call to Action (BCtA)?
A multilateral alliance between donor governments launched at the United Nations in 2008, BCtA is an inclusive business advocacy platform and global membership network of companies advancing commercially sustainable solutions to tackling poverty and inequality and contributing to SDGs. Today, more than 280 companies around the world have expressed agreement with BCtA and are undertaking projects in 82 countries (as of May 2021).

Velutine™ Evo

Velutine™ Evo

We are working to reduce environmental impact
not only at our factories but also in the whole supply chain.

We have developed Velutine™ Evo, a fibrillation technology for Bemberg™ that has a low environmental impact. This technology enables reduction of the amounts of consumed water and energy by approximately 15 to 20% compared to conventional methods. We will continue expanding such efforts together with our partners.

Industry association

In the fashion industry, environmental impact and human resources
development are major issues, and we’ve been investigating and
implementing various measures and activities to solve them.
With Bemberg™ as one of cellulose fibers, we will continue contributing to
solving the industry issues by proactively participating in the major industry
associations that are making significant strides toward solutions.
